Ernie is a senior corporate commercial lawyer and business executive with over 30 years of legal practice, a decade of business experience and expertise across a broad range of industries.

Ernie is a legal and business expert, who has worked in the private sector, public sector, at international law firms, and as a sole practitioner and entrepreneur. He brings this experience into all his legal work, uniquely informing his expertise and allowing him to truly understand what a business and business owner needs to thrive. He has experience working with and for companies ranging in size from start-ups to major national and international corporations, both in the private and public sector. He has drafted and negotiated commercial contracts, shareholder agreements and corporate governance documents. He has also supported an international client through a challenging decade long contractual relationship.

Ernie has experience leading corporate commercial legal work for clients in the Energy industry, including more than $1 billion worth of renewable energy projects and establishing, in a constrained period, 50 partnerships between 35 First Nations and multiple renewable energy developers to develop renewable energy FIT projects in Ontario. 

Ernie’s experience allows him to take a well-reasoned and practical approach to the art of law. It is important to “get it right” within the necessary constraints of the situation. Ernie is business minded, detail-oriented, people-oriented, an excellent listener and an organized legal professional who is well equipped to address the unique needs of any business.
