David is a practical lawyer who can make complex issues simple and has a deep understanding of risk. Over the past 20+ years, David has gained extensive experience across multiple industries, including technology, agri-food, exempt market investments, sustainable investing and new media sectors. His legal expertise includes advising on strategic transactions (e.g. acquisitions, joint ventures) and early-stage investments, in addition to commercial & general corporate matters. Has has also had experience counselling private alternative investment funds and strategies on legal matters, including fund formation, corporate governance and supporting investment-related transactions. David is skilled at working with companies to commercialize intellectual property, such as negotiating and drafting licensing, technical services and development agreements.
David began his career at a leading technology law firm in Ottawa during the telecom boom of the early-2000s. He would then spend 13 years working within private equity & debt firms in Montreal and New York City before returning to private law practice in 2020. Although now primarily focused on the Canadian market, David has extensive transaction experience in South American, West African and Central & Eastern European markets.
